Defibrillator
The phone box on Main Street in the village contains a defibrillator for use in emergencies when someone is found unconscious. At the time of installation, a post card was printed and put through the door of every house in the village. The advice from the card is reproduced below.
If you do one thing today as a result of this - add the VETS number to your mobile phone register. The last thing you need to be doing in an emergency is trying to find the number of those who can help.
In the event of finding someone unconscious, a funny colour and not breathing:
-
Ring 999 and ask for an ambulance
-
If they are not breathing try chest compressions to the rhythm of Nellie the Elephant. The ambulance service will give guidance on how to do chest compressions
-
If you need extra help after calling 999, ring our village VETS number on 0115 824 0848 (why not programme this number into your phone now, so you will always have it in an emergency)
-
A volunteer from VETS will fetch the defibrillator from the phone box and bring it to you.
